Riverside Communities Project
The Riverside Communities Project is a two year project on
the River Medway from Maidstone to Tonbridge.
The Riverside Communities Project will explore the heritage
of the river, its importance to trade, agriculture and industry.
We will look at myths, stories and songs that surround the
River Medway and explore what can be found now...more

Elements
The two bridges in Maidstone’s town centre
now shine brightly - thanks to a new interactive lighting
display.
St Peter’s Bridge and Maidstone Bridge are bathed in
lights and patterns on the theme of the elements, and what’s
more, members of the public can change the display by texting
on their mobile phone!
Light Elements was created by artist Peter Freeman and are
a permanent fixture on the bridges. The display can be changed
by texting earth, wood, fire, water, metal or elemental to
07775 864202.
Light Elements is funded by the Channel Corridor Partnership.
It is part of Maidstone Borough Council’s Elemental Project,
which aims to bring contemporary public art to 12 sites along
